Winter in Minnesota
Battery capacity drops in freezing weather. If your engine cranks slowly, headlights dim at idle, or you have needed a jump more than once, it is time for a proper load test and charging voltage check—not only a jump start at the parts store.
Testing versus guessing
A dead battery might be a bad battery—or a weak alternator, a parasitic draw, or corroded cables. We measure resting voltage, cranking voltage, and charging output under load where appropriate so you replace the right component.
Alternator and starter cues
Whining bearings, burning smells, battery warning lights, or dimming with accessories can indicate alternator trouble. Clicking with a full battery may point to starter or connection issues. We narrow it down before quoting work.
